University students avoid prison time after Lynx deodorant prank

  • Arrested for: GBH with Intent (max life imprisonment)

  • Charged with: Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm (Fine to 3/5 years custodial)

Three university students were arrested for forcibly holding down a fellow student and spraying an entire deodorant can of Lynx onto his nipple (similar to a recent internet craze). The three students were arrested for causing Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) with Intent.

GBH with intent sits just below murder and manslaughter as one of the most serious criminal offences that you can commit against another person - and it may well be what they were guilty of.

However, with the help of their lawyer, the students ended up only being charged with Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.

They now have a permanent criminal record so are unlikely to ever become a doctor, teacher, public sector worker or be able to volunteer with children. It may even affect their future travel to other countries.
